STUDENT VISA CHECKLIST (2010) INZ Dubai Branch is the receiving office for student visas for residents of the following countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen and United Arab Emirates. Please note that certain nationals do not need visas to enter New Zealand and there are bilateral fee arrangements between New Zealand and some countries. For further information, please refer to our website: www.immigration.govt.nz.
It is important that you provide all the relevant information requested below so we can accept and process your application promptly. If any of the following are not received, the application may not be accepted for assessment.
All documents not in English must be translated by a translation service. A translation service may NOT certify documents as original. If you submit originals you must also submit copies that we can keep.
A visa officer may ask for additional documents during the processing of the application. 1. APPLICATION FORM:An Application to Study in New Zealand (NZIS 1012) must be fully completed in English. Answer each question on the form and continue on a separate sheet if necessary. Please ensure you include an email address as email is the preferred method of communication used by the Dubai office. Application forms can be downloaded and other relevant information may be found on our website www.immigration.govt.nz. Faxed, incomplete and unsigned applications will NOT be accepted.
2. APPLICATION FEE:The application fee is a processing fee and is NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the outcome of your visa application.
The application fee can be paid by one of three options below.
Acceptable payment methods:
If you are paying using the credit card of someone other than the principal applicant you must attach a copy of the passport photo page and a copy of both sides of the credit card.
3. PHOTO:One recent passport sized photo (must be less than 12 months old) of each person included in the application.
4. PASSPORT OR TRAVEL DOCUMENT:Passports must be valid for 3 months beyond intended date of departure from New Zealand. We will accept an application with a full copy of all pages of the passport, in place of the original. If you have previously issued expired passports full copies of these must also be submitted.
5. STUDENT VISA REQUIREMENTS§ Evidence of your acceptance into an NZQA-approved course and educational institution in New Zealand. The offer must specify the name of the course, the minimum time required for completion and the annual fee for the full course.
§ Evidence of payment of course fees or exemption from course fees. (ie. either a receipt showing payment of the course fee, or a notice of award of a scholarship). § A guarantee of suitable accommodation either from (a) the institution offering them a place, or (b) another person prepared and able to provide accommodation. § Evidence of funds. If the course is 36 weeks or more, evidence that student has access to $NZ 10,000 in their own name, or a completed Financial Undertaking for a Student form (NZIS 1014). § Results of a TB test if the applicant is 11 years and over and intends to stay in NZ for more than 6 months or Full Medicals if you intend to study in NZ for more than 12 months. § Police certificate (if you are 17 years old and over) and intend to stay in NZ for more than 24 months. 6. ADDITIONAL SUPPORTING INFORMATION:§ A letter of intent or explanation outlining your reasons to travel and why you want to study in New Zealand. § Your latest school report, course results, or evidence to prove you are a genuine student for example good academic results to show you will succeed in your course of study or a career path which is complimentary to your selected course of study. § If not a continuing student, provide evidence that you are currently employed or otherwise. § Consent from both parents for children under 17 years of age. § Other information to show that you are a genuine student and that your have strong incentives to return home after the completion of your studies in NZ (eg: evidence of home and car ownership, land lease, business interests, strong family ties, workplace bonds etc)
7. LODGING YOUR APPLICATIONYour application may be submitted in person or via courier to: Immigration New Zealand Suite 1503, Floor 15, API World Tower Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai, UAE
Our office is open from 8.30am – 12pm from Sunday to Thursday.
8. PROCESSING TIMEStudent visas take 30 to 45 days to process. You will be contacted if your visa is processed before this time. We appreciate if you only contact our office in the first 30 days in urgent circumstances.

9. ENDORSMENT OF YOUR VISATHERE ARE TWO OPTIONS: · Your visa can be issue in person at the Dubai office once you have received confirmation that your application has been approved OR
· You can submit your original passport by courier. You will need to arrange a return courier service so the passports can be returned to you.
10. TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIAIf your itinerary takes you through Australia you will need to obtain a separate visa from the Australian immigration authorities.
